“Having immediate access to sustainable, sovereign HPC power enables us to expand the scope of our projects while ensuring on-time delivery for our customers.”
Matthieu Morel · CEO and CFD Engineer
Nemosflow is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) engineering consultancy, founded over four years ago with a mission to make CFD more accessible to the industrial world. Their goal: to apply simulation judiciously to understand, anticipate, and optimize fluid processes, thereby reducing risks and costs from R&D through to production. Nemosflow covers the entire simulation pipeline—methodology, modeling, meshing, physics, computation, and analysis—leveraging mainly open-source tools.
Internally, Nemosflow relies on a modest in-house computing capacity—just a few dozen cores—sufficient for small-scale workloads: steady-state simulations, lightweight models, or moderate mesh sizes.
When projects become more complex, larger, or more numerous, the company needs immediate access to additional compute power. That’s when Qarnot comes into play—a fast, flexible, and sovereign outsourcing solution that helps Nemosflow absorb workload spikes. This strategic choice minimizes fixed costs (e.g. IT hardware, maintenance) and enables an agile approach, perfectly aligned with the company's structure and growth model.
"Thanks to Qarnot, we were able to handle several projects that would have been out of reach with our internal resources alone."
Matthieu Morel · CEO and CFD Engineer
Data sovereignty is critical. Nemosflow chose Qarnot largely because of its strong stance on data control: a French company with servers based in Europe, managing its entire value chain—from cloud platform to infrastructure. This European-based setup meets strict regulatory standards, reassuring Nemosflow’s own clients about data security and lifting major barriers to externalizing CFD workloads.
Nemosflow’s workflows rely on open-source tools like OpenFOAM and Code_Saturne. Qarnot’s platform comes pre-configured with these tools, regularly updated, and supports rapid integration of specific versions or custom codes. Its operational flexibility stands out, offering:
This setup allows Nemosflow to easily scale resources, handle workload peaks, run parallel projects, and manage costs—without investing in a dedicated cluster.
"Since using Qarnot, computing power is no longer a limiting factor. I now have an instantly available, operational solution whenever needed."
Matthieu Morel · CEO and CFD Engineer
While Qarnot was chosen primarily for its performance and flexibility, its low-carbon model was a decisive added value. Unlike traditional data centers, Qarnot recovers the excess heat generated by its compute nodes and repurposes it for heating buildings, reducing overall energy consumption and maximizing resource efficiency. This aligns perfectly with Nemosflow’s sustainability goals: reducing its carbon footprint without compromising on performance.
Qarnot complements Nemosflow’s internal computing resources without requiring investment in a dedicated cluster.
Simulations are launched via SSH, enabling real-time monitoring and dynamic tuning during runtime.
Qarnot gives Nemosflow the flexibility to adapt compute power to real-time needs, activating resources only when necessary.
Simulations are prepared using familiar open-source tools (mainly OpenFOAM and Code_Saturne).
Results are securely retrieved and reintegrated into the local workflow for post-processing.
