Qarnot’s supports

Public support driving our innovation

CLUSSTER

Funding framework:
AMI Cloud
Funding body:
Bpifrance

The CLUSSTER project (CLoud Unifié Souverain de Services de TEchnologies et d'infrastructuRes) aims to create France’s first unified and sovereign platform for cloud services, in connection with GAIA-X and EOSC (European Open Science Cloud), to strengthen digital sovereignty through a hybrid French research cloud combining public clouds and commercial offerings. The project is supported under the Cloud Acceleration Strategy through the call “Development and Strengthening of the French and European Cloud Sector.” The consortium includes GENCI, CNRS-IDRIS, Inria, CEA-LSCE, Atos, OVHcloud, ActiveEon, HUBBLO, QARNOT, and CS GROUP.It is funded by the French State under France 2030 and by the European Union – Next Generation EU through the France Relance plan.

DEFIMOF

Funding framework:
i-Démo
Funding body:
Bpifrance

This project aims to establish a French production and valorization sector for Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs), with applications in water, air, and energy. These materials have exceptional properties but no industrial sector exists yet.

Within this framework, Qarnot is exploring the use of MOFs to recover waste heat from IT infrastructures. The project is led by Saint-Gobain and carried out with CNRS IRCE Lyon, Fibroline, Axel’One, and Condorchem.

It is funded by the French State under France 2030.

LoCaCloud

Funding framework:
EIC accelerator
Funding body:
European Commission

The LoCaCloud (Low Carbon Cloud) project, selected in October 2022 under the EIC Accelerator program of the European Commission, enables Qarnot to co-finance its technological developments and benefit from an equity investment.

Covering the period 2023–2025, the project aims to strengthen Qarnot’s ability to deploy large-scale computing sites and expand its service portfolio, with a strong focus on platform scalability. It is structured into five work packages:

  • WP1 - Management
  • WP2 - Market Activities
  • WP3 - HW and edge data center development
  • WP4 - Orchestrator, software grid management development
  • WP5 - SW Developping Qarnot's services portfolio

The project is co-funded by the European Commission through the EIC Accelerator program (Grant Agreement No. 190117429).

LoCaCloud Brescia

Funding framework:
Innovation Fund
Funding body:
European Commission

The project aims to demonstrate, at a European scale, that data centers can contribute to the energy transition by recovering IT heat.

In collaboration with A2A, Qarnot plans to deploy a unique data center supplying 1.8 MW of heat at 65 °C to Brescia’s urban heating network, based on four key innovations:

  • QBx a patented computing cluster and digital boiler, directly recovering server heat
  • Qware, middleware for efficiently managing high-performance computing distribution in the cloud
  • Distributed data center, optimizing heat collection and use across multiple sites
  • Economic and financial model, linking heat and computing to enable large-scale replication

Supported by the European Innovation Fund.

PULSE

Funding framework:
Défi INRIA

Launched in 2022 by Inria and Qarnot with support from ADEME, the Défi PULSE (“PUshing Low-carbon Services towards the Edge”) is a four-year research project aimed at evaluating and reducing the environmental impact of distributed computing infrastructures.

It assesses Qarnot’s distributed approach compared to traditional data centers and focuses on optimizing task and data orchestration to lower energy consumption while improving service quality.

Qroissance

Funding framework:
Aide au Développement Deeptech
Funding body:
Bpifrance

The Qroissance project supports the development of the Qarnot platform by funding part of the Défi PULSE in collaboration with INRIA and backing R&D efforts to enhance infrastructure resilience, service integration, and site monitoring.

SecNumCloud

Funding framework:
AMI SNC
Funding body:
European Commission

Bpifrance supports Qarnot in obtaining the SecNumCloud certification from ANSSI for its platform and services, ensuring a high level of security for its clients. ANSSI guides Qarnot and oversees the security providers to guarantee quality and timely delivery.

The project is funded by the French State under France 2030 and by the European Union – Next Generation EU through the France Relance plan, as part of Bpifrance’s “Support for SecNumCloud Qualification” call.
