This is a Core Concept page which offers an overview of key topics essential for understanding Licenses. Start here for foundational knowledge, then explore our tutorials for more in-depth learning.
Some software that you can use at Qarnot requires a license to be used (check on the software page for more information on licensing). To facilitate your use of proprietary software and enable a maximum flexibility, we offer several options to use a license. You can either point Qarnot to your license and use it on our infrastructure or, when available, borrow a Qarnot license for an additional fee.
Integrated licenses are licenses owned by Qarnot that you can use at your will when launching a task. In that case the license price is added to your task billing (it is usually proportional to the task execution time).
When you already pay to use proprietary software, you may not want to rent or buy a new license from Qarnot. We offer you the possibility to link your license server to your task so that it can use your license when computing. Be careful as you will probably need to configure your network to enable Qarnot to access your license server (using a VPN or by whitelisting Qarnot’s license gateway).
